Watercolour Painting

Watercolour is a magical medium capable of producing light and dark shades using a variety of brushes, washes, and colour mixing techniques. Work with a variety of art papers available to use with watercolours to understand and explore their various features and effects.

Painting Inspired by Expressionism

Expressionism was an evocative and dynamic art movement spanning multiple decades, countries, and media. Using broad brush strokes, bright pops of colour and abstract styles, we will learn new techniques to imbue our work with emotion and mood. Paint from still life with the aim to depict an emotional experience rather than physical reality.

Drawing All Styles and Media

Dabble in various styles and media as you develop your observation skills and increase your confidence in putting pen, pencil, charcoal and ink to paper. In this 5-week class, we will learn how to render the shapes, colours and light reflections to create the most dynamic drawings.

Ruby by Glenda Thompson. Lino Reduction Print. 2023

Intro to Reduction Lino Printmaking

Reduction printmaking in the process of creating a multilayered or coloured print using a single block or piece of lino. More lino is carved away and removed from the block after each layer is printed. The process is repeated until the final print is built up. Learn the techniques of registering your print for progressive alignment to create a limited-edition series.

Mosaics Workshop

The art of mosaics is as modern as is it historical and one of the most beautiful art forms. Learn how to create pieces with an assemblage of coloured glass, stone and other materials. We’ll begin with small pieces to explore composition and learn the techniques of gluing and grouting then progress to working on a larger project of your choice. Apply the skills you have learned to an at-home project.

Develop Your Art Practice

Do you want to go further with your artwork? Would you like to have an exhibition or develop a series of work? Or would you like help with your artist CV? This consultative offering is designed for you as a one-on-one coaching system. We’ll meet to discuss and identify your goals then work together to formulate a plan to achieve them. A minimum of two sessions are offered to ensure adequate time for planning and follow up. Get in touch to see if this development opportunity is right for you.
